¿Por qué existe la ASE?

¿Por qué existe la ASE?

In the early 1970s, there were questions as to how the motoring public could know that the person working on their vehicle was legitimate and had the knowledge to repair and service their vehicle. The automotive industry came together to come up with a solution: ASE. This not only ended up helping the motoring public to be able to trust who is working on their vehicle, but it also kept the government from licensing jobs and having oversight. Today, ASE is a legally defensible credential for shop owners, dealerships, employers and service professionals alike.

Who Writes ASE Certification Test Questions?

Who Writes ASE Certification Test Questions?

Facilitated by ASE, ASE Certification tests are written in workshops that are made up of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) - working industry professionals including technicians, OEs, aftermarket, and educators. Each question the workshop of SMEs develop, must pass through several rigorous steps which includes agreement on content from everyone. So, each question must work for the OE, aftermarket and educator SME in the workshop.

A message from ASE's Chairman

My call to action is clear: every dealership, independent shop, fleet, collision repair, educator, and industry partner must get involved. This is the work that strengthens our future.

Did you know? Modern vehicles now contain more lines of code than a fighter jet.

Think about that for a second. To put it into perspective, the Ford F-150 Lightning averages 150 million lines of code while the Boeing 787 Dreamliner averages 6.5 million lines of code. Today's vehicles require knowledge and skill akin to engineering and repairing them is more complicated than ever. Vehicles continue to grow more complex, and technology and diagnostic tools are constantly evolving.

Often, your car is your second largest financial investment behind housing. You depend on it to safely get around - to work, school, and play. So, do you know who is servicing your vehicle? Don’t let just anyone maintain those for you. Ask to see their ASE credentials. Look for a Blue Seal of Excellence Shop on our locator to find a repair shop near you that has at least 75% of their employees ASE Certified.

Look for the ASE Certified service professionals - you'll be glad you did.
