The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is now offering an online option for those interested in taking the automobile maintenance and light repair technician (G1) certification test.

“At ASE, we continually strive to improve the test-taking experience and that is why we have expanded ASE remote testing to include the G1 certification test,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of ASE. “ProProctor remote testing has become very popular among those taking ASE recertification tests. By adding this option for the G1 test, we can offer more flexibility to those pursuing this initial certification test.”

Prometric’s ProProctor online remote platform is a reliable, convenient and valid way to take the G1 test, as well as ASE recertification tests, making the testing experience as stress free as possible.

The ASE G1 test is designed to identify and recognize those maintenance and light repair technicians who can demonstrate knowledge of the skills necessary to successfully perform the most common maintenance and light repair tasks. The G1 test contains 55 scored questions, plus 10 unscored research questions covering knowledge of the skills related to maintenance and light repairs in engine systems, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical and heating and air conditioning.
