Several new episodes of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) podcast series, “Team ASE Podcasts,” are now available. The latest podcast, entitled “Teaching the Teachers” was recorded at the recent ASE Education Foundation’s Instructor Conference and features Antonio Melendez, a career and technology instructor from Westbury High School in Houston, Texas.
In this episode, industry veteran and host, Tony Molla talks with Melendez about the personal and professional significance of attending the instructor conference. The two also discuss Melendez’s background; how he became a CTE instructor in Texas; how his jobs introduced him to mentoring and apprenticeships; and how the training he receives at the conference helps him be a better teacher.
Other new episodes include those entitled “Excellence at Any Age,” “The Rise of Mechanical and Technology Specialist” and “Working Together for Tomorrow.” In upcoming podcasts, Molla will feature more interviews from the instructor conference that review the type of technical training available and the value it provides to instructors and those who support their efforts to educate the next generation of automotive professionals.
“The Team ASE Podcast series offers 10-minute “quick hit” topics that can really help industry professionals as they navigate their careers,” said Donna Wagner, vice president of industry and media relations for ASE. “We also offer some very informative interviews with service professionals and instructors who discuss important issues facing the industry today.”
